Sexy Inc. Our Children Under Influence

Sexy Inc. Our Children Under Influence

Sophie Bissonnette's documentary analyzes the hypersexualization of our environment and its noxious effects on young people. Psychologists, teachers and school nurses criticize the unhealthy culture surrounding our children, where marketing and advertising are targeting younger and younger audiences and bombarding them with sexual and sexist images. Sexy Inc. suggests various ways of countering hypersexualization and the eroticization of childhood and invites us to rally against this worrying phenomenon.

Absolutely amazing. When you cannot tell the difference between teen magazine models and porn models --that, if anything, should hit you like a brick wall… what an eye opener!

Great film but it is hard for me to show the video because of the explicit pictures (porno) even tho it is blurred , I think in most parts it is giving too much information and giving Ideas. I liked the first 18 minutes but I would have to stop it after that.

I second all that littleplanet says. 'Sexy Inc.' is an important and powerful film that needs to be seen and discussed in our homes and classrooms. Sophie, thank you for bringing the issue into focus and for making a film that instills motivation for creating healthier alternatives.

Great film, about a really important topic. I love the way the teenagers trash the images, and sink their teeth into the hypocracy. More power to them. Kids are far too commodified these days, and far too much of that is still gender-specific. This issue needs to be addressed...it's been ignored for too long. For the sake of the kids themselves - they deserve better than they get.
